Pressed
Deliverables: logo design; identity system; Business Cards
Pressed is a local business that offers handmade jewelry made with pressed florals. After Melody Niemann Partain got married, she wanted to do something with the flowers from her bouquet. She pressed one of the flowers and turned it into a necklace she could wear everyday. Soon after that, Pressed was formed.
When Melody was starting her jewelry business, she knew she needed a brand as beautiful as the jewelry she was making. I was tasked in creating this brand identity to help this new shop bloom. After a few exploratory exercises, I learned that this identity needed to be simple, feminine, and modern. To achieve this aesthetic, I drew inspiration from the delicate flowers used in the jewelry itself.
The logo was created by modifying an existing typeface. I redrew and refined the letterforms and added some personalization to the final wordmark. I created a few bloom illustrations and marks to be used in addition to the logo. This brand has a cohesive color palette designed to work in any combination as well as pair with the jewelry nicely.
Pressed premiered at Louisville’s Holiday Made Market where it was received so well that Melody sold out of all of her products that day. She continues to sell at local markets and online at pressedblooms.com.
